Endoscopes are flexible or rigid tubes in which a very small camera is attached. With this camera, body cavities and internal organs can be viewed to help diagnose problems. It is very useful in acquiring biopsies and performing certain minimally invasive surgeries. Endoscopy is a beneficial tool because it is less invasive; therefore, recovery time is much shorter than with conventional surgery. All endoscopy procedures require general anesthesia.
