Animal Emergency Critical Care Laparoscopy Thoracoscopy
These minimally invasive surgical procedures require tiny (often 1 cm or less) incisions which allow introduction of a very small video camera and instruments. Organs and tissues can be visualized and imaged, biopsies can be performed, and in some cases definitive surgical procedures can occur. Laparoscopy involves the abdominal cavity, while thoracoscopy involves the chest. The small incisions not only minimize post-operative pain, risk of hernia, or other complications; they facilitate a rapid patient recovery.
