In most instances, after your pet’s physical examination, a Treatment Plan which includes an estimate of charges will be determined and presented to you before any treatment is performed. We do this so that you know the options available to you. If you have any questions at that time, we are happy to provide explanations.
By authorizing a Treatment Plan to begin, you are working with us to decide what is best for your pet, and also agreeing that full payment will be provided upon discharging the patient. This page helps you understand the fees and payment options.
We offer some of the most advanced veterinary medicine in the area but we know that many of our clients are working within a budget – just let us know. We are happy to provide you with an estimate of your pet’s treatment plan. We can base your pet’s treatment plan on what works best for you.
Policy & Procedure
- After you authorize a Treatment Plan, medical care will be initiated. The obvious exception to this policy is a patient with life-threatening injuries that require immediate medical care. By bringing your pet into our facility and requesting medical treatment you are assuming financial responsibility. The charges will be estimated for you as soon as your pet is stabilized.
- A deposit is required for all hospitalized patients at the time of their admission to the hospital. The deposit amount, equivalent to the low end of the estimate, will be applied to the final invoice total. All balances are due at the time of your pet’s discharge.
- Because we are an emergency/critical care facility, it is our hospital policy to receive payment at the time of treatment. AECC/VISC accepts cash, MasterCard®, Visa®, Discover® and American Express®.
- We do not offer any delayed billing but we do acccept Care Credit and Citi Health. Both of these credit plans offer a convenient, low minimum monthly payment and/or zero interest programs to help you accept the best Treatment Plan recommendation for your pets. If you do not already have an account with Care Credit or Citi Health, we will be happy to assist you with the application.

Why are costs at a Referral Center higher than a Primary Care Veterinarian?
- Like with the human medical field, Veterinarian specialty care costs and facility operating costs are typically higher than primary care facilities. We always strive to maintain the lowest possible fees in all aspects of the practice.
- Since emergency facilities are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year the daily operating expenses are at least THREE times higher than operating a primary care facility.
- State-of-the-art medical and imaging equipment are costly and require constant maintenance and frequent upgrades.
- 24 hour staffing of a referral facility is a major expense. It is our goal to provide the highest quality care, utilizing the best trained veterinary personnel available. A veterinarian and full complement of staff are always on premises. Our veterinary team examine the patient and make recommendations for care that are in the best interest of the patient. Unlike most referral veterinary practices, our entire veterinary team receives salaried compensation and no production-based compensation is given.
- Continuing Education for all of our staff is a critical component so we may continue to offer your pet the very best care and services available.
- Please note that our treatment plans are all inclusive, offering the most comprehensive care for our patients. When comparing treatment plans received from other facilities, pay close attention to the details, making sure that both plans include the same services.
